Job summary

Big Whiskey's American Restaurant & Bar in Lebanon, MO is seeking a bartender to provide high‑quality drinks in a welcoming, fast-paced setting. You will greet guests, upsell beverages, and deliver timely service to create a warm, home‑like atmosphere.

You will prepare alcoholic and non‑alcoholic drinks, maintain bar cleanliness, and assist with inventory while ensuring accuracy in Micros and cash handling. This role requires standing for long periods and the ability to lift up to 40 pounds.

Qualifications

• Must be 21 years or older.
• Minimum 2 years bartending experience.
• Able to communicate with guests in the predominant language(s).
• Knowledge of beer, wine, and liquor and standard drink recipes.
• Basic math skills and ability to handle money and operate a cash register.
• Able to stand for long periods (up to 5 hours) and frequently lift up to 40 pounds.

Responsibilities

• Greet guests, upsell beverages, and suggest drinks.

• Learn regulars by name and build rapport with guests.
• Record drink orders accurately in the Micros system.

• Assist in restocking bar inventory and supplies.
• Be the Floor General to ensure a top guest experience.

Summary of Position:

To provide fresh, delicious, high-quality tasting drinks in a fun atmosphere with speedy service. Making our guests feel welcome as if our home was their home and a place they wish to spend their time.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Greet each guest by introducing yourself, shaking their hand, upselling beverages, and making suggestions to fit each guest's desires
• Take beverage orders from guests and servers
• Prepare and serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks consistent with the restaurant’s standard drink recipes
• Learn the names and personally recognize our regulars
• Record drink orders accurately and immediately after receipt into the micros system
• Accept guest payment, process credit card charges, and make changes (if applicable)
• Wash and sterilize glassware
• Prepare garnishes for drinks and replenish snacks, appetizers for bar patrons
• Maintains bottles and glasses in an attractive and functional manner to supports efficient drink preparation and promotion of beverages
• Clear and reset tables in the bar area
• Present drink menus, make recommendations and answer questions regarding beverages
• Maintain cleanliness in all areas of the bar including counters, floors, sinks, utensils, shelves, and storage areas
• Receive and serve food orders to guests seated at the bar
• Report all equipment problems and bar maintenance issues to the restaurant manager
• Assist in the restocking and replenishment of bar inventory and supplies
• Be available to fill in as needed to ensure the smooth efficient operation of the restaurant as directed by the restaurant manager or immediate supervisor
• Be the “Floor Generals,” they take the lead in FOH making sure all guests have the best Big Whiskeys experience!
