Goal of the Banquet Director

The Banquet Director effectively and proactively monitors the daily functions of the Events Department. This includes providing support and guidance to the banquet team, Catering and Convention Services team, Convention Services floor department, and Banquet Beverage. The role requires working closely with all hotel departments to ensure successful and effective events, resulting in positive guest experiences.

Responsibilities of the Banquet Director
  1. Support and manage the Events Department while collaborating with the Food and Beverage Director and other hotel departments. Leadership responsibilities may include Convention Services Set Up and Banquet Beverage.
  2. Supervise, empower, lead, coach, and motivate the banquet team, including captains, food servers, and lead house attendants, to achieve exceptional guest service results and full associate engagement.
  3. Assist the hotel in reaching top box service scores on Meeting Planner surveys by reviewing Banquet Event Orders and ensuring thorough communication with guests and departments. Responsible for the timely setup of all functions and meetings, maintaining standards of food, beverage, and meeting specifications.
  4. Proactively review staffing and equipment needs.
  5. Coordinate and execute all events with Culinary, Stewarding, Catering/CS, CS Floor, and Beverage teams.
  6. Maintain a high-energy, positive, professional appearance.
  7. Develop innovative and creative décor ideas for the banquet function space.
  8. Plan and oversee short and long-term banquet functions both in the front and back of the house.
  9. Create an environment that upholds the highest standards of quality service through effective hiring, training, development, promotion, and continuous reinforcement.
  10. Handle administrative tasks such as payroll, reports, forecasts, point of sale procedures, inventory, and budget management for food and beverage functions.
  11. Perform daily walk-throughs of the banquet department, function spaces, and storerooms to ensure compliance with health regulations and Hyatt standards.
  12. Develop ideas for special events and holiday functions.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Full-time management position requiring flexibility, including weekends and holidays.
  • Strong desire to understand and anticipate guest needs in a fast-paced environment.
  • Refined verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in general computer knowledge.
  • Creativity, innovation, attention to detail, and organizational skills.
  • Experience in Food and Beverage or Rooms in a hotel setting is preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of all levels of banquet service.
  • Previous experience as an Event Services Manager/Assistant, Event Services Captain, or Event Services Supervisor is preferred.
  • High energy, entrepreneurial spirit, motivational leadership, engaging personality, effective communication, and strong training abilities.
