Goal of the Banquet Director

Effectively and proactively monitor the daily functions of the Events Department, supporting and guiding the banquet team, Catering and Convention Services team, Convention Services floor department, and Banquet Beverage, while working closely with hotel departments to ensure successful events and positive guest experiences.

Responsibilities
  • Support and manage the Events Department, collaborating with Food and Beverage Director and other departments. Leadership duties may include overseeing Convention Services Set Up and Banquet Beverage.
  • Supervise, empower, lead, coach, and motivate the banquet team to achieve exceptional guest service and staff engagement.
  • Assist in reaching top service scores on Meeting Planner surveys by reviewing Banquet Event Orders and ensuring proper setup of functions meeting standards.
  • Review staffing and equipment needs proactively.
  • Coordinate and execute all events with Culinary, Stewarding, Catering/CS, CS Floor, and Beverage teams.
  • Maintain a high-energy, positive, professional appearance.
  • Develop innovative décor ideas for banquet functions.
  • Manage short and long-term banquet functions both front and back of house.
  • Create an environment of high-quality service through effective hiring, training, and ongoing reinforcement.
  • Handle administrative tasks such as payroll, reports, forecasts, POS procedures, inventory, and food and beverage budgets.
  • Conduct daily walk-throughs to ensure compliance with health regulations and Hyatt standards.
  • Generate ideas for special events and holiday functions.
Qualifications
  • Full-time management position requiring flexibility, including weekends and holidays.
  • Strong desire to anticipate and meet the needs of others in a fast-paced environment.
  • Refined verbal and written communication skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in general computer knowledge.
  • Creative, innovative, detail-oriented, and organized candidates preferred.
  • Experience in Food and Beverage or Rooms in a hotel setting is preferred.
  • Thorough understanding of banquet service levels.
  • Previous experience as an Event Services Manager/Assistant, Captain, or Supervisor is preferred.
  • Must demonstrate high energy, entrepreneurial spirit, motivational leadership, engagement, effective communication, and customer service excellence.
