Job summary

The Westin at The Woodlands, part of HEI Hotels & Resorts, is seeking a banquet server to assist with events and ensure a positive guest experience through attentive service. You will help set up banquet spaces and support the team throughout functions in a fast-paced hotel environment.

Prior hotel experience is preferred; candidates should be able to lift up to 30 lbs, stand for long periods, and communicate effectively with guests and staff.

Qualifications

• Hotel experience preferred.
• Must be willing to "pitch-in" and be a team player.
• Basic knowledge of food and beverage preparations, service standards, guest relations and etiquette.
• Knowledge of the appropriate table settings and serviceware.
• Ability to comprehend and apply written product labeling instructions to enable the safe application of products and processes within the hotel.
• Ability to remember, recite and promote the variety of menu items.
• Ability to transport up to 30 lbs. through a crowded room on a continuous basis; operate beverage equipment.
• Ability to stand for long periods of time.
• Effective verbal and written communication skills; adapt communication style to different audiences.

Responsibilities

• Assist Banquet Manager in serving guests during banquet functions to ensure positive guest experience.
• Set up banquet room with linen, serviceware and glassware.
• Attend roll call meetings before events to learn function particulars and expectations.
• Greet guests and respond to requests in a friendly and courteous manner.
• Serve food and beverages per supervisor's instructions to ensure consistency.
• Abide by all state, federal and corporate alcohol service requirements.
• Replenish beverages and check guest satisfaction.
• Reset banquet room according to supervisor's specifications for the next function.
• Maintain attendance and be available to work regularly.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
