Job summary

Oak View Group is seeking a Banquet Server for events at The Arthur R. Outlaw Mobile Convention Center in Mobile, AL. You will deliver professional food and beverage service, set up and maintain stations, and ensure guest satisfaction across diverse events.

The role emphasizes hospitality, attentiveness, and teamwork with kitchen and event staff. Part-time hours include nights and weekends with a $20.00 hourly rate.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or equivalent GED strongly preferred.
• 1+ years of work experience in events, banquets, or restaurants preferred.
• Ability to carry at least 8 entrees per tray.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and select holidays.
• Knowledge of basic arithmetic (addition, subtraction, multiplication, and division).
• Must be able to stand for extended periods of time.
• Must be able to lift, push, pull, and/or carry heavy objects often.
• Must be punctual with consistent attendance.
• Must be able to respond to simple complaints or inquiries from customers.

• Reads and understands Banquet Event Orders.
• Provides fine dining level food and beverage service to guests for all events consistent with standards of service.
• Initiates and maintains friendly and professional contact with guests, ensuring that all needs are anticipated and met.
• Sets up and maintains both food and beverage stations in various locations throughout the building consistent with standards of service.
• Maintains an inventory for both food and beverage stations.
• Maintains all event areas and front‑of‑house staging areas in a tidy and organized manner.
• Participates in both set‑up and clean‑up of food and beverage service items.
• Works independently during slower times.
• Performs safe work by helping to provide a safe and clean work environment.
• Has a high level of social contact and deals often with patrons.
• Ensures that work is accurate and complete.
• Maintains a customer‑focused, positive, and professional attitude.

Position Summary

A Banquet Server plays a critical role in delivering exceptional guest experiences by providing professional and efficient food and beverage service during events. Their primary function is to ensure that all guests feel welcomed and attended to, following event specifications and service standards. From the set‑up of banquet spaces to the seamless execution of meal service, they maintain an acute focus on detail and hospitality. Banquet Servers work collaboratively with kitchen and event staff to ensure the timely delivery of courses, adapt to guest needs in real‑time, and uphold the ambiance and quality of the event. Beyond serving, Banquet Servers contribute to the overall success of events by maintaining cleanliness and organization throughout the service. They are responsible for resetting spaces for subsequent events and ensuring that all equipment is cleaned and stored appropriately. Whether it is a formal gala, corporate event, or wedding reception, Banquet Servers are integral in creating a positive impression of the venue and event host, embodying professionalism, efficiency, and a guest‑focused attitude.

This role pays an hourly rate of $20.00.

About The Venue

The Arthur R. Outlaw Mobile Convention Center is a spectacular facility providing excellent meeting accommodations. It features 317,000 gross square feet, including a 100,000 square foot exhibit hall, and a unique design with terraces for outdoor functions and breathtaking views of the Mobile River.
