Job summary

Sonesta International Hotels is seeking a Banquet Server to deliver exceptional service at weddings, meetings, celebrations, and special events. You’ll set up, operate, and break down events, engage with guests, and help create memorable moments in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

Ideal candidates have banquet or hotel service experience, strong communication, and the ability to multitask; TABC and Food Handler certifications are required.

Qualifications

• Previous banquet service, restaurant, hotel, or hospitality experience preferred.
• Excellent communication and customer service skills.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced hospitality environment.
• Experience using POS systems and handling cash transactions.
• TABC Certification and Food Handler Certification required.

Responsibilities

• Set up, operate, and break down banquet events according to event requirements and hotel standards.
• Provide exceptional guest service by engaging with guests and making recommendations.
• Review event orders and details to understand setup, menus, beverages, guest counts and timing.
• Maintain knowledge of banquet menu and beverage offerings.
• Operate efficiently during high-volume weddings, meetings, and special events.
• Track beverage consumption, process payments, and manage bars.
• Maintain cleanliness and sanitation across banquet areas.
• Assist with glassware, garnishes, ice, inventory, and closing duties.
• Follow food safety guidelines and alcohol service standards.
• Monitor guest satisfaction and address concerns promptly.
• Collaborate with Banquet, Event, Culinary teams and F&B leadership to support execution.
• Support upselling opportunities and beverage programs.

What you’ll be doing

• Set up, operate, and break down banquet events according to event requirements, banquet event orders, and hotel standards.
• Provide exceptional guest service by engaging with guests, making recommendations, and creating a welcoming atmosphere.
• Review banquet event orders and function details to understand setup, menus, beverage selections, guest counts, timing, and special requests.
• Maintain strong knowledge of banquet menu and beverage offerings.
• Operate efficiently during high-volume weddings, meetings, receptions, celebrations, and special events.
• Accurately track beverage consumption, process payments, manage hosted or cash bars, and complete required event documentation.
• Maintain cleanliness, organization, presentation, and sanitation standards across banquet bar and service areas.
• Assist with glassware, garnishes, ice, inventory, stock replenishment, portable bar setup, and opening and closing duties.
• Follow food safety guidelines, responsible alcohol service standards, and hotel operational procedures.
• Monitor guest satisfaction and address guest concerns professionally and promptly.
• Partner closely with Banquet, Event teams, Culinary teams, and Food & Beverage leadership to support seamless event execution.
• Support upselling opportunities and beverage programs that enhance the guest experience and drive event revenue.
• Perform any other duties as assigned.

• Experience using POS systems and handling cash transactions accurately.
• Strong attention to detail, cleanliness, and presentation standards.
• Flexible availability including evenings, weekends, holidays, and event support as needed.
• TABC Certification, Food Handler Certification required.
• A passion for hospitality, teamwork, guest experience, and creating memorable food & beverage moments.
