Job summary

Sonesta International Hotels is seeking a capable Banquet Supervisor to oversee the successful execution of all banquet events and related duties. The role involves supervising banquet staff, coordinating staff tasks, and maintaining high guest service standards throughout events.

Ideal candidates will have two years of banquet server experience in a full-service hotel, with a preference for upscale settings and a high school diploma or GED.

Qualifications

• Two years of experience as a banquet server in a full-service hotel (preferred).

Responsibilities

• Ensure banquet event orders are accurate.
• Ensure staff complete tasks per banquet event orders and Sonesta standards.
• Inspect function areas and keep public areas clean.
• Engage with group representatives to ensure guest satisfaction.
• Communicate changes to banquet event orders to all departments and coordinate set-ups.
• Monitor staffing levels and adjust to business needs.
• Post banquet checks and forward to Night Audit.
• Coordinate function timing to ensure food quality.
• Adhere to safety and sanitation guidelines.
• Adhere to uniform and grooming standards.

What this role is all about

In charge of the successful execution of all banquet events assigned by the Banquet Manager. Also responsible for assigned paperwork and other duties as needed.

What you’ll be doing

Supervise and coordinate the activities of the banquet staff to ensure the successful completion of all banquet functions. The ideal candidate has a passion for hospitality and providing exceptional guest service.

Work Environment

• Must be able work in a fast-paced environment.
• Majority of work takes place indoors.
• Must be able to tolerate extreme temperatures - i.e. kitchens, freezers.

Physical Demands

• Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 20 pounds of force frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects.
• Frequent bending, kneeling and reaching.
• Ability to stand during entire shift.

Expected Hours of Work

• Must be flexible to work variable days of the week to include weekends and holidays.
• Must be flexible to work variable shifts (days, nights, overnights).
• Ten to twelve hour shifts sometimes required.

Education and Experience

• Two years of experience as a banquet server in full service hotel preferred - preferably in an upscale establishment.
• High school diploma or General Education Degree (GED) preferred.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities (Essential Functions) include:

• Ensure that that the information in banquet event orders is accurate.
• Ensure that banquet staff members complete tasks in accordance to banquet event orders and Sonesta standards.
• Inspect functions areas and ensure the cleanliness of the public areas at all times.
• Engage and communicate with group representative throughout the function to ensure complete guest satisfaction.
• Communicate any changes to banquet event orders to all departments in a timely manner and coordinate the banquet set‑ups and changes to schedules of
• Monitor staffing levels and adjust according to business demands.
• Post all banquet checks at end of day and turn in to Night Audit.
• Coordinate and time functions to ensure quality of food.

• Perform other duties or projects as requested by management.
