Job summary

The National WWII Museum hosts Sodexo Live! events and seeks a Banquet Server for catering services. You will provide food and beverage service for catered events, ranging from casual buffets to formal plated meals, ensuring a positive guest experience with attentive, timely service.

Position supports multiple functions with a flexible schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays. Must be 18+, with beverage knowledge and strong teamwork abilities; prior POS/digital register experience

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required.
• TIPS or TEAM trained or equivalent.
• Age 18 or older.
• Basic knowledge of beer, wine, and spirits and familiarity with standard drink recipes.
• Demonstrated ability to understand and implement written and verbal instructions.
• Strong team orientation and ability to work with various departments.
• Ability to count and make change involving large sums of money.
• Ability to use calculator, bill counters, and coin counters.
• Ability to work well independently and in a high‑stress environment.
• Must be able to speak/read/write basic English for guests.
• Technology aptitude for POS and digital register.
• Strong sales skills with customer connection.
• Scheduling flexibility to meet operational needs.

Location: We are seeking Banquet Servers for the American Sector Catering at the National WWII Museum.

We have FREE Parking, close to public transportation and Street Car. We offer a flexible schedule and great hours with our restaurant open from 11am-4:00pm everyday as well as evening dinner shows in the Stage Door Canteen.

We are closed all major holidays such as Thanksgiving, Christmas Eve, Christmas Day, and Mardi Gras Day!

Principal Function:

The Banquet Server provides food and beverage service to guests attending catered events, including meetings, receptions, luncheons, dinners, and special functions. This role supports a variety of service styles ranging from casual buffets to formal plated meals and passed service. Banquet Servers play a key role in delivering a positive guest experience by providing attentive, professional, and timely service during events.

Essential Responsibilities:

• Contribute to goal of 100% customer satisfaction through personal commitment to teamwork and service.
• Support banquet operations by assisting in executing catered events and functions in accordance with Sodexo Live! standards, guest expectations and specifications as per Banquet Event Orders and catering contracts.
• Maintain a safe, clean, organized and sanitary environment.

Qualifications/Skills Required:

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• TIPS or TEAM trained or equivalent.
• Age 18 or older.
• Basic knowledge of beer, wine, and spirits and familiarity with standard drink recipes.
• Demonstrated ability to understand and effectively implement written and verbal instructions.
• Strong team orientation and ability to work with a variety of departments to accomplish assigned tasks.
• Ability to count and accurately make change involving large sums of money.
• Ability to use calculator, bill counters, and coin counters.
• Ability to work well independently.
• Ability to work well in a high stress, fast paced environment.
• Ability to perform simple mathematical calculations, to include addition, subtraction, multiplication and division.
• Must be able to speak, read, write and understand the primary language(s) used by guests who typically visit the work location.
• Technology aptitude for working with POS and digital register.
• Strong skills for persuasive sales, with keen ability to connect easily with customers.
• Scheduling flexibility to meet operational needs.

Other requirements include but is not limited to:

• Able to work effectively and safely while subject to wet floors, temperature extremes and excessive noise; must be able to lift up to 50 pounds in weight; must be able to maneuver in an often tightly-quartered environment.
• Hours are often extended or irregular to include nights, weekends and holidays.
