Job summary

The Langham Boston is seeking a banquet server to set up, service, and break down banquet events in accordance with hotel standards. You will ensure guest satisfaction throughout events, maintain cleanliness, and support the banquet team to deliver exceptional experiences.

Candidates should have a high school diploma, prior banquet or F&B hospitality experience, and the ability to work in a fast-paced environment.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Set up tables, buffets, and banquet space to standard specifications.
• Inspect linen, silverware, china, and glassware for cleanliness and appearance.
• Serve food, beverages, and coffee to guests as ordered.
• Address and resolve banquet-related guest concerns professionally.
• Clean and reset banquet areas during and after events.
• Follow Langham Hotel service standards and safety procedures.
• Collaborate with banquet managers, chefs, servers, and kitchen staff.
• Manage tasks efficiently with the ability to work independently.

Purpose and Objectives of Position

To manually set up, break down and service all meeting rooms according to set standards of the hotel. Providing friendly, courteous and in an efficient manner, according to hotel specifications and requirements. Ensuring guest satisfaction throughout their event. Also set up, breakdown and cleaning tables, buffets, food stations, function space and back of the house.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

• Ensure proper set-up for all tables and buffets in assigned meeting rooms, attention to detail.
• Inspect linen, silver, china, glassware and other table items for cleanliness and appearance.
• Serve food, coffee, water and other beverages to customers as required on the banquet event order.
• Resolve complaints in regards to banquet functions in a timely, positive and professional manner.
• Clean banquet room and banquet area during and after banquet functions.
• Be aware of and practice Langham Hotel’s service standards.
• Positive team player with the ability to get larger tasks completed.
• Follow health and safety procedures according to hotel specifications.
• Work well in a team atmosphere and independently.
• Perform general cleaning tasks using standard hotel cleaning products as assigned by your supervisor to adhere to Health standards.
• Must adhere to All State, Federal and Corporate food handling and alcohol serving regulations.

Supportive Functions

• Communicate with Banquet Management on a daily basis.
• Communicate and coordinate with Chef in regards of special dietary restrictions or allergies.
• Cooperate closely with other members of the banquet team including servers, porters and kitchen associates.
• Additional duties may also be requested by supervisor.
• Acquire a working knowledge of the hotel, in house facilities and local information to respond to customer inquiries.

Job Knowledge, Skill and Ability

• High School Diploma or equivalent preferred
• Prior banquets and food & beverage /hospitality experience preferred

Physical Demands

• Activities include standing, reaching, bending, pushing, pulling, handling, grasping, lifting, carrying, talking, and walking.
• Standing for 90% of work shift is required.
• Requires the ability to lift 50lbs.

Pay Rate:

• $19.50 per hour plus gratuity
