Job summary

Fairmont New Orleans is seeking a Banquet Manager to support the Director of Banquets in daily operations, lead banquet teams, plan events, and ensure exceptional guest service.

This hands-on role collaborates with Catering, Culinary, Stewarding and other departments to guarantee flawless event execution and adherence to Fairmont standards. The ideal candidate will manage staffing, training, and pre-event planning while maintaining VIP relationships and safety compliance.

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily operations of the Banquet Department and support the Director of Banquets
• Lead banquet operations during events, ensuring service is efficient and aligned with Fairmont standards
• Provide on-the-floor leadership, directing banquet staff and offering hands-on support during events
• Maintain knowledge of banquet menus, beverages, event setups and function specifications
• Review Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) to ensure all details, timings and VIP requests are understood and executed
• Collaborate with Catering, Culinary, Stewarding, Engineering, Housekeeping and other departments for seamless event execution
• Inspect function rooms and spaces pre-service to ensure cleanliness, setup, equipment and presentation meet standards
• Conduct pre-function meetings to review event details, service expectations and assignments
• Assign stations, side work and responsibilities based on event needs and staffing
• Monitor service during functions and provide coaching and direction as needed
• Anticipate guest needs and respond promptly to requests with professionalism
• Maintain positive guest relations and a personalized guest experience
• Address and resolve guest concerns, escalating significant issues as needed
• Maintain awareness of VIP guests, group requirements and special arrangements
• Ensure proper food and beverage presentation, timing, quality and portions
• Monitor compliance with health, safety and alcohol regulations and standards
• Coordinate with multiple departments to ensure successful event execution
• Assist with staffing schedules, onboarding and development of banquet colleagues
• Promote teamwork, accountability and a positive colleague experience
• Monitor banquet revenue, billing and operational information for accuracy
• Support monitoring of departmental revenue, labor and expenses against budget
• Ensure timely completion of banquet reports and administrative duties
• Maintain knowledge of hotel facilities, services and event spaces to respond to inquiries
• Maintain care and proper use of banquet equipment and supplies
• Communicate clearly with guests, colleagues and leadership
• Provide leadership in the Director of Banquets' absence and support pre-opening initiatives
