Job summary

The Palmetto Club in Columbia, SC is seeking an experienced Banquet Manager to orchestrate flawless events on the floor and on the schedule. This hands-on leadership role reports to the Catering Director and collaborates with the Chef, banquet staff, bartenders, and other departments to ensure every detail is perfectly planned, executed, and wrapped up.

You will lead a busy team, manage staff pre-shifts, and maintain outstanding service while ensuring guest satisfaction and smooth operations

Qualifications

• 3+ years of experience in banquet or event management.
• Strong leadership skills to motivate and guide a team.
• Exceptional communication and organizational abilities.
• Keen attention to detail and a proactive problem-solving mindset.
• Hands-on management style with a commitment to outstanding service.

Responsibilities

• Review and understand Banquet Event Orders (BEOs) prior to each event.
• Oversee room setup and ensure all event details are completed as specified.
• Lead pre-shift meetings and assign staff responsibilities.
• Supervise banquet servers, bartenders, and support staff for consistent service.
• Communicate with the kitchen regarding timing, guest counts, dietary restrictions, and changes.
• Maintain close communication with the Catering Director about event details and client requests.
• Be present during events to assist members, guests, and staff.
• Monitor service standards and guest interactions to ensure a top-tier experience.
• Anticipate and resolve issues before they impact the guest experience.
• Oversee breakdown and storage of equipment post-event.
• Confirm side work and closing duties before staff release.
• Ensure event spaces are clean, organized, and ready for the next function.
