Job summary

The Edgewater in Madison, WI is seeking a Banquet Setup staff member responsible for physically arranging rooms and event spaces for meetings, banquets, and functions. Duties include arranging chairs and tables, food stations, decorations, and equipment; ensuring guest satisfaction; and preparing rooms for upcoming functions.

Flexibility to work mornings/evenings and weekends is required. Candidates should be able to lift up to 50 lbs and operate basic banquet equipment; prior hotel banquet

Qualifications

• Experience working with banquet setup, preferably in a high volume banquet or hotel environment.
• Strong attention to detail and the ability to handle multiple tasks at once.
• Ability to communicate effectively with guests, co-workers and management.
• Strong customer service skills and the ability to resolve customer issues or complaints.
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule including nights, weekends, and public holidays.
• Must be able to perform multiple tasks and prioritize efficiently.
• Demonstrate an understanding of food, food ingredients, food prep methods, proper food storage, sanitation requirements, and basic bar terminology.
• Ability to operate the following equipment: coffee machine, hot box, soda dispenser, Bain Maries, beer taps, and related equipment.
• Ability to lift, push, and pull a minimum of 50 lbs.
• Ability to use moderately complex computer software.

Working Conditions

To meet the demands of our banquet and event scheduling, ideal candidates must have open availability and be able to work both AM and PM shifts throughout the week, including weekends.

This position operates within event spaces, restaurant areas, and the outdoor plaza. Evening and weekend work is required, and some duties will be performed outdoors. The work environment can be loud at times.

Employees may be exposed to various workplace hazards, including but not limited to cuts, slips, trips, pinching, falls, and burns.
