A Banquet Houseman is a key operational role in hotels, convention centers, and event venues, responsible for the physical setup, maintenance, and breakdown of banquet and meeting spaces to ensure they are ready for events and meet contracted service standards.
The Banquet Houseman executes event floor plans, arranges furniture, decorates tables, and ensures all equipment is in place before guests arrive. They also reset and clean spaces after events, maintaining a professional appearance and operational readiness.
Setup & Configuration: Arrange tables, chairs, risers, stages, podiums, and decor according to event orders and floor plans.
Equipment Handling: Transport and position furniture, AV equipment, and staging areas; assist with AV setup and sound checks.
Breakdown & Reset: Clear, clean, and store all furniture, linens, and equipment; reset rooms between events.
Cleanliness & Maintenance: Keep banquet rooms, hallways, restrooms, and public areas clean and presentable before, during, and after events.
Inventory & Storage: Maintain and organize banquet storage; conduct regular inventory of chairs, tables, linens, and supplies.
Coordination: Work with event managers, catering staff, and banquet captains to meet deadlines and handle last-minute changes.
Light Maintenance: Perform touch-up painting, window cleaning, carpet care, and other assigned upkeep tasks.
