Job summary

Sonesta International Hotels is seeking a banquet setup professional to prepare and break down banquet rooms according to guest specifications. You will read orders, arrange spaces, and manage event equipment with attention to detail.

The role requires physical stamina, ability to lift heavy loads, and flexible scheduling including evenings, weekends, and holidays. You will work closely with the Banquet Manager and the team to ensure smooth events.

Qualifications

• Ability to push/pull carts weighing 75–100 pounds.
• Ability to lift/move approximately 100 pounds.
• Flexibility to work AM/PM shifts, nights, weekends or holidays.
• Stamina to stand and walk for long periods.
• Works cooperatively with Banquet Manager and staff.

Responsibilities

• Set up and breakdown banquet rooms per guest specifications.
• Prepare and maintain banquet equipment and break stations.
• Ensure proper handling and storage of hotel property and equipment.
• Report damage or breakage to supervisors.
• Follow all Banquet Dept. rules and Employee Handbook.

What This Role Is All About

Performs a variety of routine functions in support of banquet events. Sets up and breaks down banquet rooms per guest specifications and performs side work as assigned. Reads banquet event orders and sets room according to guest specifications including cleaning of rooms and setting up equipment and break stations.

What You’ll Be Doing

Qualifications and Requirements:

• Ability to push/pull carts weighing approximately 75-100 pounds
• Ability to lift and move approximately 100 pounds
• Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb and reach
• Ability to perform tasks requiring sustained repetitive motion
• Ability to stand and walk for prolonged periods of time
• Ability to operate and control heavy equipment
• Must be able to work a flexible schedule, AM/PM shifts, and may be required to work nights, weekends, and/or holidays

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Ensure that the Hotel's property is handled and stored properly
• Reports any damage or breakage immediately to supervisors
• Responsible for the set-up and breakdown of all meetings and banquet food functions as instructed
• Responsible for all cleanup procedures as instructed
• Responsible for the removal and storage of any and all equipment and/or furnishings throughout the Hotel
• All set-up personnel are expected to work and cooperate with the Banquet Manager and the Banquet Captains/Supervisors
• Handles equipment with care, and maintains a clean storage area, and ensures all equipment is in good repair
• All set-up personnel are expected to be familiar with all possible set-ups and layouts
• Responsible for following all rules and regulations set forth by the Banquet Dept. as well as the Employee Handbook
• To perform other work-related duties as assigned by Management
