Job summary

Valor Hospitality Partners seeks a Banquet Houseman to maintain all function rooms and support departments in a safe, efficient, and guest-focused manner.

You will work closely with Sales and F&B teams to execute events, set and reset rooms per BEOs, and uphold high service standards while adhering to safety procedures and energy-conscious practices.

Qualifications

• High school education or equivalent.
• 6 months hotel or convention center banquet experience.
• Knowledge of banquet operations and AV equipment preferred.
• Ability to communicate information to management, staff and guests.

Responsibilities

• Check all BEOs for accuracy.
• Set rooms, buffets, and tables per BEO specs; check electrical hook-ups and tape cords.
• Interact with guests cordially and professionally; assist in service as needed.
• Keep storerooms clean, organized and secured; assist in inventory.
• Maintain banquet hall organization and safety; assist with equipment maintenance.
• Ensure unused rooms meet department standards and communicate concerns to Banquet Manager.
• Assist servers during service and respond to requests promptly.
• Foster teamwork across departments and enforce safety and sanitation guidelines.

Banquet Houseman - $19/hr

POSITION PROFILE

Properly set, clean and maintain all function rooms, service corridors, storerooms and public function areas in a safe, accident-free manner. Provide excellent customer service and work closely with guests, Sales, and the Food and Beverage departments.

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILTIES

• Check server’s and house person’s BEOs to ensure that all information is accurate.
• Set rooms, buffets, and tables according to BEO specifications and Supervisor instructions. Check electrical hook-ups for proper working order and tape down all exposed cords for equipment in use.
• Perform all guest contact activities or guest request with a cordial, efficient and professional manner while maintaining a commitment to excellence.
• Ensure that all storerooms are clean, organized and secured. Assist in equipment inventory as scheduled. Attend staff set- up and technical training on a regular basis.
• Organize Banquet hall to ensure a productive, safe and energy conserving work environment. Ensure proper maintenance (cleaning and repair) of all equipment
• Ensure that all unused rooms are set to department’s standards.
• Constantly communicate all concerns to Banquet Manager
• Assist the servers during service by responding to their requests; notify supervisor immediately of any difficulties.
• Maintain a cooperative, team-like attitude in working with supervisors and fellow associates in all departments.
• Enforce all safety and sanitation procedures including safety guidelines and OSHA requirements.

REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES

• High school education or equivalent experience
• Six months hotel or convention center -banquet food/beverage services environment.
• Experience and knowledge in all facets of banquet operations, convention services setup and a good understanding of AV equipment operations preferred.
• Communicate information and hotel services to management, staff and guests.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Able to lift, push, carry 20 - 40 lbs.
• Stand continuously for long periods of time.
• Lift, pull, push, bend, and move items to support the hotel and outlets
