Job Description Summary

Prepares and cooks food with attention to cleanliness and sanitation, quality standards, taste, timeliness, and cost effectiveness. Responsible for pastry and baking production, and the preparation of all banquet hot food items.

Responsibilities
  • Adhere to safety guidelines.
  • Control quality and consistency of all food served.
  • Set up station or prep list in a timely manner.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of all stations and food items in the department.
  • Ensure all supplies are available before service.
  • Handle and store food properly and safely.
  • Produce orders quickly and according to quality standards.
  • Execute all banquet functions when assigned.
  • Prepare and cook breads and pastries as appropriate.
  • Review production sheets for baked goods.
  • Use tools safely and competently.
  • Demonstrate basic cooking techniques.
  • Maintain scheduled hours with approvals for exceptions.
  • Keep work area clean at all times.
  • Assist in supervising and instructing lower-level cooks.
  • Communicate with the chef regarding daily tasks.
  • Work nights, weekends, and holidays as needed.
  • Master menu items and presentation.
  • Assist in controlling food and labor costs.
  • Practice safe work habits and promote safety.
  • Adhere to uniform and grooming standards.
  • Discuss special menu allergies or needs with guests.
  • Ensure readiness for the next day.
  • Utilize all banquet items efficiently.
  • Maintain sanitation and organization of work areas.
  • Assist in other kitchen areas when not busy.
  • Perform other duties as assigned, including assisting hotel operations as needed.
Guest Service
  • Provide passionate and engaging service, recognizing and anticipating guest needs.
  • Follow the GUEST model: Greet warmly, Establish contact, Understand needs, Solve requests, Thank guests.
