Job summary

Makeready seeks a Banquet Chef to lead planning, preparation, and execution of banquet culinary operations for meetings, weddings, and events at The Greenleigh River Oaks opening Fall 2026 in Houston, TX. You will collaborate with the Executive Chef and banquet team to ensure exceptional food quality, presentation, and service.

Ideal candidates have proven chef experience, strong kitchen leadership, and extensive knowledge of food safety and banquet service.

Qualifications

• Prior experience as a Chef required.
• Prior kitchen leadership or management experience required.
• Thorough knowledge of food safety, sanitation, and food preparation techniques.
• Knowledge of current culinary trends and banquet service execution.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays.

Responsibilities

• Plan and direct food preparation and culinary activities for the banquet kitchen.
• Review banquet event orders (BEOs) daily to ensure proper preparation and execution.
• Partner with the Executive Chef, Sous Chef, and Banquet Captain to coordinate event planning and service.
• Modify or develop menus that meet quality standards and event requirements.
• Manage inventory levels to ensure necessary ingredients and supplies are available.
• Monitor food and labor costs to maintain operational efficiency.
• Recruit, train, and manage banquet culinary team members.
• Conduct final quality checks on plated dishes to ensure presentation and consistency.
• Ensure strict adherence to cleanliness, sanitation, and safety standards.
• Review staffing levels to ensure operational needs and guest expectations are met.
