Job summary

BENCHMARK is seeking a passionate cook to join our culinary team at Black Rock Mountain Resort, offering a competitive salary of $25.00 per hour. The cook will assist the chef in preparing a variety of food products, maintain food quality and standards across different dining environments, and manage an orderly kitchen.

Candidate must have an active Food Handler’s certification, be organizationally skilled, and possess the physical ability to work long hours while lifting up to 50 pounds. This position requires a willingness to work flexible shifts, including nights and weekends.

Job description

Overview

We are seeking a passionate cook to join our culinary team at Black Rock Mountain Resort. The Cook will work closely with the chef and culinary leadership to create menus that reflect seasonal availability and the concept of the restaurant, while maintaining production levels and food quality across cafeteria, banquet, dining room, and fine dining environments.

Responsibilities

• Assist the chef in the production and fabrication of food products for kitchen preparation.
• Develop knowledge and skills in various cooking procedures and methods (grill, sauté, fry).
• Use knives and kitchen equipment to prepare ingredients (chopping, peeling, cutting).
• Recreate recipes consistently and maintain meticulous workstations with necessary ingredients and equipment.
• Sanitize and keep the kitchen environment orderly; ensure proper storage of food and other items.
• Minimize food waste through cross utilization and maintain quality of ingredients.
• Support kitchen staff to maintain adequate production levels.

Qualifications

• Active Food Handler’s certification or ability to obtain it.
• Willingness to work a variety of day, night, and weekend shifts.
• Strong organizational and independent work skills.
• Physical ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 50 pounds.

Compensation
