Vesta Hospitality is seeking a Part-Time On-Call Banquet Captain in Portland to lead banquets for weddings, meetings, and events at the Mindaro Event Center. You will direct banquet staff, oversee setup and breakdown, and ensure consistent, high-quality service for guests from arrival to departure.

The role requires strong leadership, excellent communication, and the ability to work flexible hours including evenings and weekends as events demand.

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct banquet staff during events to ensure smooth service.

• Act as a point of contact for guests and event organizers.
• Communicate with Banquet Manager and other hotel departments.
• Monitor timing, presentation, cleanliness, and guest experience throughout events.
• Coach and support staff to maintain high service standards.
• Respond to guest needs and escalate issues as needed.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Follow all hotel, safety, sanitation, and service standards.

Vesta Hospitality is looking for a Part-Time On-Call Banquet Captain to join our team!

As a Banquet Captain, you’ll help lead the execution of weddings, meetings, celebrations, and other special events while ensuring our guests receive exceptional service from start to finish.

What You'll Do

• Lead and direct banquet staff during events to ensure smooth and efficient service.
• Set up and break down banquet rooms, tables, chairs, linens, and service areas.
• Ensure food and beverage service follows event specifications and established standards.
• Act as a point of contact for guests and event organizers during assigned events.
• Communicate effectively with the Banquet Manager and other hotel departments.
• Monitor timing, presentation, cleanliness, and overall guest experience throughout the event.
• Coach and support banquet team members to maintain high service standards.
• Respond professionally and promptly to guest needs and requests.
• Help resolve service issues and **escalate** concerns appropriately.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Follow all hotel, safety, sanitation, and service standards.

What We're Looking For

• Previous banquet, catering, restaurant, or hospitality experience preferred.
• Previous leadership or supervisory experience is a plus.
• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfortable directing and supporting a team.
• Guest-focused attitude with a genuine desire to provide exceptional service.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as events require.
