Job summary

Vesta Hospitality in Portland, Oregon is seeking a Part-Time On-Call Banquet Captain to lead banquet staff during weddings, meetings, and other events. You’ll coordinate setup, service, and teardown while ensuring guest satisfaction from start to finish.

The role emphasizes leadership, clear communication with hotel departments, and maintaining high standards of service throughout events. Flexible hours, including evenings and weekends, are required.

Qualifications

• Experience in banquet, catering, restaurant, or hospitality environments preferred.
• Strong communication and organizational skills are essential.
• Ability to stay calm and professional in fast-paced settings.

Responsibilities

• Lead and direct banquet staff during events to ensure smooth and efficient service.
• Set up and break down banquet rooms, tables, chairs, linens, and service areas.
• Ensure food and beverage service follows event specifications and standards.
• Act as a point of contact for guests and event organizers during assigned events.
• Communicate effectively with the Banquet Manager and other hotel departments.
• Monitor timing, presentation, cleanliness, and overall guest experience throughout the event.
• Coach and support banquet team members to maintain high service standards.
• Respond professionally and promptly to guest needs and requests.
• Help resolve service issues and escalate concerns appropriately.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment.
• Follow all hotel, safety, sanitation, and service standards.

Vesta Hospitality is looking for a Part-Time On-Call Banquet Captain to join our team!

As a Banquet Captain, you’ll help lead the execution of weddings, meetings, celebrations, and other special events while ensuring our guests receive exceptional service from start to finish.

What You'll Do

• Lead and direct banquet staff during events to ensure smooth and efficient service.

What We're Looking For

• Previous banquet, catering, restaurant, or hospitality experience preferred.

• Strong communication and organizational skills.
• Ability to remain calm and professional in a fast-paced environment.
• Comfortable directing and supporting a team.
• Guest-focused attitude with a genuine desire to provide exceptional service.
• Ability to work flexible hours, including evenings, weekends, and holidays as events require.
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, lift, and move throughout events for extended periods.
• Must be dependable and available to work on an as-needed basis.
