Job summary

The University of Texas at Austin is seeking a Banquet Captain to lead banquet functions with Forty Acres Catering within Longhorn Hospitality under UHD. You will monitor attendance and scheduling for part-time or student labor while ensuring top-notch customer service from start to finish.

Responsibilities include leading servers, coordinating staffing, managing deliveries, and upholding HAACP standards. A strong emphasis on professional appearance and excellent communication is required.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED is required.
• At least 2 years of experience as a waiter in a dining establishment.
• Ability to complete and maintain Food Safety Training requirements.

Responsibilities

• Understand and use Banquet Event Order (BEO) forms and room diagrams for all events.
• Lead and instruct servers and staff for catered events; assist in hiring and training new staff.
• Manage deliveries to campus locations and verify accuracy of catering deliveries.
• Maintain banquet storage areas and inventory; proficient in Outlook, Excel, and food production software.
• Follow HAACP guidelines and ServSafe allergy training; ensure proper uniform and grooming standards.
• Resolve guest problems and coordinate with catering manager and departments to address issues.
• Clean up banquet space after events and ensure equipment and supplies are stored properly.
• Assist culinary staff with back-of-house prep for events.
