Job summary

The Lofton Hotel, part of The Marcus Corporation, is seeking a banquet supervisor to lead setup, breakdown, and service for events in Minneapolis downtown’s entertainment district.

You will train and supervise staff, maintain cleanliness and inventory, draft schedules, and ensure our guests receive Hilton-quality service while controlling costs.

Qualifications

• Ability to read, speak and comprehend English to receive instructions and communicate with staff and guests.
• Prior Banquet experience required.
• Prior hospitality supervisory experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervises and trains staff in set up and break down of banquet rooms per contract and manager’s instructions.
• Supervises and trains staff in service of food and beverages according to standards.
• Communicates with guest contacts to ensure needs are met.
• Maintains cleanliness of banquet rooms, pantry, public areas, and storage.
• Maintains inventory of necessary supplies.
• Processes banquet bills daily.
• Drafts weekly schedules in line with forecasted and budgeted labor numbers for approval.
• Ensures staff conformity to Hilton’s high standards of quality and service.
• Establishes and maintains effective associate relations.
• Ensures appropriate standards of conduct, dress, hygiene, and appearance.

Compensation: $17.12/HR

What will you be doing?

• Supervises and trains staff in the set up and break down of assigned banquet rooms according to contract and manager’s instructions.
• Supervises and trains staff in the service of food and beverages according to standards.
• Communicates frequently with guest contacts in order to ensure that their needs are being met.
• Supervises and trains staff in maintaining cleanliness of banquet rooms, banquet pantry, public areas, and storage areas.
• Supervises and trains staff in maintaining inventory of necessary supplies.
• Process banquet bills on a daily basis.
• Draft schedule on a weekly basis and in compliance to forecasted and budgeted labor numbers for approval of the Banquet Manager or Food and Beverage Director.
• Supervises and trains staff to conform to Hilton’s high standards of quality and service.
• Establish and maintain effective associate relations.
• Ensure appropriate standards of conduct, dress, hygiene, and appearance are maintained.

What do you bring to the role?

• Ability to read, speak and comprehend English in order to receive instructions from managers and guests and to communicate with all members of the banquet department.
• Ability to respond quickly and accurately to guest requests.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks quickly and efficiently.
• Ability to lift 35 lbs. with reasonable accommodation.
• Knowledge of food preparation.
• Prior Banquet experience required.
• Prior hospitality supervisory experience preferred.
