Job summary

HHM Hotels is seeking a Banquet Captain to lead banquet staff during assigned functions, ensure colleagues perform to established guest service standards, and help set up banquet rooms.

You will coordinate with catering teams, serve in order, check event orders, uphold liquor controls and safety policies, and support management to deliver flawless functions. The schedule varies and includes holidays and weekends.

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous banquet experience required.

Responsibilities

• Check Banquet Staff’s Event Orders to ensure accuracy.
• Set up banquet room as instructed and ensure directions are followed.
• Serve food and/or beverages in order and to supervisor expectations.
• Replenish beverages and food items as necessary and check guest satisfaction.
• Act as point of contact for group representatives when management is not present.
• Communicate Event Order changes to catering or convention services and affected departments.
• Coordinate with banquet colleagues on set-ups, changes and time schedules for all functions.
• Inspect banquet areas at end of function and ensure equipment is returned and areas are clean.
• Abide by all state, federal and corporate liquor regulations.
• Assist management to ensure proper liquor controls are in use.
• Practice safe work habits and follow MSDS and OSHA standards.
• Perform other duties as requested by management.

Your Focus

• Check Banquet Staff’s Event Orders to ensure that all information is accurate.
• Set up banquet room as instructed by management, and check room set-up to see that Banquet Event Order directions are completely followed.
• Serve the food and/or beverage in the order and to the expectation of the supervisor to ensure consistency throughout the banquet.
• Replenish beverages and food items as necessary, and check with guests for overall satisfaction.
• Act as point of contact for group representatives when management is not present.
• Communicate all Banquet Event Order changes to catering or convention services office and affected departments.
• Coordinate with banquet colleagues on set-ups, changes and time schedules for all functions.
• Inspect banquet areas at end of function to ensure all equipment is returned to its proper area and all areas are clean.
• Abide by all state, federal and corporate requirements pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages.
• Help with management to ensure that proper liquor controls are in use.
• Practice safe work habits, wear protective safety equipment and follow MSDS and OSHA standards.
• Perform other duties as requested by management.
