Job summary

Le Méridien Houston Downtown is seeking a Banquet Captain to lead banquet staff during assigned functions, ensuring service standards are met and guest satisfaction is achieved. You will set up banquet rooms, coordinate with management, and supervise food and beverage service to maintain consistency throughout events.

This role requires prior banquet experience and focuses on coordinating with catering and convention services, while ensuring safety, liquor controls, and timely execution of all

Qualifications

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Experience in banquets or events is required.

Responsibilities

• Check Banquet Event Orders to ensure information is accurate.
• Set up banquet rooms as instructed by management and verify room set-up follows Banquet Event Order directions.
• Serve food and/or beverages in order and to supervisor expectations, ensuring consistency.
• Replenish beverages and food items as needed and check with guests for satisfaction.
• Act as point of contact for group representatives when management is not present.
• Coordinate with banquet colleagues on set-ups, changes, and time schedules for all functions.
• Inspect banquet areas at end of function to ensure equipment is returned and areas are clean.
• Abide by all state, federal, and corporate requirements pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages.
• Help management ensure proper liquor controls are in use.
• Practice safe work habits, wear protective safety equipment and follow MSDS and OSHA standards.
• Perform other duties as requested by management.

Your Focus

• Check Banquet Staff’s Event Orders to ensure that all information is accurate.
• Set up banquet room as instructed by management, and check room set-up to see that Banquet Event Order directions are completely followed.
• Serve the food and/or beverage in the order and to the expectation of the supervisor to ensure consistency throughout the banquet.
• Replenish beverages and food items as necessary, and check with guests for overall satisfaction.

• Communicate all Banquet Event Order changes to catering or convention services office and affected departments.
• Coordinate with banquet colleagues on set-ups, changes and time schedules for all functions.
