Job Description

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Event Leadership & Coordination

  • Lead the front-of-house banquet team to ensure professional, seamless service throughout events.
  • Confirm that tables, buffet lines, and service areas are arranged to match event layouts and specifications.
  • Oversee timely food and beverage replenishment in collaboration with the culinary team.
  • Address last-minute requests or concerns from clients or hosts with poise and professionalism.
  • Ensure the event concludes smoothly, assist with breakdown, and provide final billing details to the host or coordinator when required.

Team Supervision & Staff Development

  • Plan and assign tasks to banquet servers and support staff, ensuring everyone is briefed and properly prepared.
  • Monitor staff uniforms and grooming to ensure a polished, professional appearance in accordance with Maya Hotels standards.
  • Provide ongoing training, coaching, and mentoring to drive exceptional performance.
  • Support recruitment and onboarding of new banquet staff.
  • Foster a positive team atmosphere and assist with conflict resolution when necessary.
  • Liaise with the Sales and F&B Director regarding group needs or challenges.

Guest Relations & Service Excellence

  • Deliver warm, personalized service by greeting guests, responding to questions, and anticipating needs.
  • Monitor service throughout the event to ensure quality, timeliness, and satisfaction.
  • Promptly resolve guest concerns or complaints with empathy and effective solutions.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in all guest interactions.
  • Execute service recovery practices when necessary to ensure high levels of satisfaction.

Event Readiness & Cleanliness

  • Inspect event spaces before each function to ensure cleanliness, proper stock, and layout accuracy.
  • Maintain sanitation standards in all banquet areas before, during, and after events.
  • Ensure all banquet spaces are cleaned, vacuumed, and reset post-event.
  • Report maintenance or safety issues immediately to the General Manager or Engineering.

Operations & Inventory Management

  • Monitor banquet supply use and control expenses related to décor, equipment, and staffing.
  • Conduct inventory checks and ensure proper storage and labeling of banquet items.
  • Support food and beverage promotions and provide input on menu enhancements.
  • Help manage local marketing initiatives in conjunction with the F&B Director.
  • Track and secure banquet service transactions, ensuring financial integrity.
  • Adhere to all health, safety, and emergency protocols including fire panel handling and guest evacuation.
  • Maintain safe working habits and report hazards immediately.

Education, Skills And Abilities

  • Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Experience: Previous banquet, catering, or hospitality experience is a plus but not required. Training provided.
  • Communication Skills: Ability to interact professionally with team members.
  • Attention to Details: Strong organizational skills, attention to detail and ability to follow instructions.
  • Team Player: Ability to work both independently and collaboratively with team members.
  • Flexibility: Willingness to work varied schedules, including nights, weekends, and holidays.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to stand, walk, push and lift for extended periods during service hours.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 75 lbs., including food trays, beverage crates, and inventory items.
  • Frequent bending, reaching, and handling banquet equipment.
  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced hospitality environment with changing demands.
