Job summary

Colony West Golf Club, Tamarac, FL, part of Troon, seeks a driven Part-Time Banquet Captain to support banquet events in a fast-paced hospitality environment.

You will lead banquet staff, coordinate with the Banquet Manager, manage equipment and room setup, and uphold service standards while maintaining safe work practices. Regular attendance is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED and 3–6 months related experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Regular and reliable attendance.

Responsibilities

• Reviews assigned banquet staff functions and banquet menus before events.
• Conducts pre-banquet meetings to assign stations and review banquet event orders.
• Communicates with Banquet Manager or assigned coordinator to ensure details are planned and met.
• Ensures changes and further instructions are made in a timely manner.
• Ensures that appropriate quantities of china, glassware, silverware, linens, and other items are available; secures requisitions as needed.
• Checks room setup prior to event and confirms quantities and timing with Banquet Chef.
• Ensures proper handling and storage of equipment and props after use.
• Conducts random audits during functions to evaluate food and service; checks temperature and upsell opportunities.
• Regularly reviews banquet schedule for changes and upcoming events.
• Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
• Performs other duties as required.

Colony West Golf Club, located in Tamarac, FL, is pleased to announce an excellent career opportunity for a Part-Time Banquet Captain! We are seeking a driven individual who is eager to learn, contribute, and grow within a fast-paced hospitality-focused property organization. As part of Troon, you will contribute to a global leader in golf and community management.

Key Responsibilities:

• Reviews assigned banquet staff functions, banquet menus prior to the scheduled event.
• Conducts pre-banquet meetings with staff to ensure appearance and hygiene standards are being met; assign stations and partners; and review banquet event orders.
• Communicates with the Banquet Manager or other assigned coordinator to ensure that all details have been planned for and met.
• Ensures that changes and further instructions are made in a timely manner.
• Ensures that appropriate quantities of china, glassware, silverware, linens, and other items are available for upcoming events. Secures requisitions for those items not available in inventory.
• Checks room set-up prior to event and meets with Banquet Chef to confirm quantities of food items and timing of food leaving the kitchen.
• Ensures proper handling of all equipment (i.e. china, glassware, silverware, linen, and props) and their proper storage after use.
• Conducts random audits during functions to evaluate food and service. Ensures that food is served at appropriate temperature; food is placed properly on the table; sufficient food is available; and up sell opportunities are met.
• Regularly reviews banquet schedule for changes, calendar of events, and special events.
• Incorporates safe work practices in job performance.
• Performs other duties as required.

Minimum Qualifications:

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED); and three to six months related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Other Qualifications:

Regular and reliable attendance.
