Job description

Westmoreland Country Club is excited to announce the exceptional career opportunity of Banquet Captain. Qualified candidates will thrive in a hospitality environment and be highly focused on providing superior service to the clubs managed by Troon.

Key Responsibilities of the Banquet Captain:
  1. Review assigned banquet staff functions and banquet menus prior to the scheduled event.
  2. Conduct pre-banquet meetings with staff to ensure appearance and hygiene standards are met; assign stations and partners; and review banquet event orders.
  3. Communicate with the Banquet Manager or other assigned coordinator to ensure all details are planned and met.
  4. Make timely changes and provide further instructions as needed.
  5. Ensure availability of appropriate quantities of china, glassware, silverware, linens, and other items for upcoming events; secure requisitions for items not in inventory.
  6. Check room setup prior to the event and meet with the Banquet Chef to confirm food quantities and timing.
  7. Ensure proper handling and storage of equipment such as china, glassware, silverware, linens, and props after use.
  8. Conduct random audits during functions to evaluate food and service, ensuring proper food temperature, placement, sufficiency, and upsell opportunities.
  9. Review banquet schedule regularly for changes, upcoming events, and special occasions.
  10. Incorporate safe work practices in all job duties.
  11. Perform other duties as required.
Minimum Qualifications:
  • High school diploma or GED; and three to six months related experience and/or training, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Other Qualifications:
  • Reliable and consistent attendance.
