Job summary

HHM Hotels seeks a Banquet Captain to lead banquet staff during events, ensuring service standards and smooth operation. You will set up rooms, serve food and beverages, and support management in directing staff to guest expectations.

The role requires standing for extended periods and availability for holidays and weekends. A High School diploma or equivalent is preferred, with prior banquet experience required. Growth opportunities exist within the banquet/restaurant leadership path.

Responsibilities

• Check banquet event orders for accuracy.
• Set up banquet rooms as directed and ensure correct room setup.
• Serve food and beverages per supervisor expectations.
• Replenish beverages and food items and check guest satisfaction.
• Act as point of contact for group representatives when management is absent.
• Communicate event order changes to catering/convention services and affected departments.
• Coordinate with colleagues on set-ups, changes and time schedules.
• Inspect banquet areas after functions and ensure equipment is stored properly.

Your Focus

• Check Banquet Staff's Event Orders to ensure that all information is accurate.
• Set up banquet room as instructed by management, and check room set-up to see that Banquet Event Order directions are completely followed.
• Serve the food and/or beverage in the order and to the expectation of the supervisor to ensure consistency throughout the banquet.
• Replenish beverages and food items as necessary, and check with guests for overall satisfaction.
• Act as point of contact for group representatives when management is not present.
• Communicate all Banquet Event Order changes to catering or convention services office and affected departments.
• Coordinate with banquet colleagues on set-ups, changes and time schedules for all functions.
• Inspect banquet areas at end of function to ensure all equipment is returned to its proper area and all areas are clean.
• Abide by all state, federal and corporate requirements pertaining to serving alcoholic beverages.
• Help with management to ensure that proper liquor controls are in use.
• Practice safe work habits, wear protective safety equipment and follow MSDS and OSHA standards.
• Perform other duties as requested by management.

Your Background and Skills

• High School diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous banquet experience required.
