Job Overview

Set up, maintain, and break down buffet for breakfast, lunch, and/or dinner in a safe, accident-free manner. Assist guests as needed to ensure all foods are properly served.

Responsibilities
  1. Read BEO and know how to complete a set-up.
  2. Set tables in assigned area correctly and uniformly.
  3. Keep station neat and clean while servicing guests per established policies and procedures.
  4. Able to work flexible shifts including mornings, afternoons, evenings, weekends, and holidays.
  5. Use proper in-room clearing and tray jacks.
  6. Break down buffets or other special food service tables and equipment.
  7. Assist Banquet Captain in setting up/breaking down buffet or other special food service tables and equipment.
  8. Greet and serve guests following policies/procedures regarding food and beverage service.
  9. Keep kitchen and storage areas clean according to management policies.
  10. Communicate needs and concerns to Banquet Captain and/or Manager/Director promptly.
  11. Complete all set-up and closing duties, including table setup with tablecloth, skirting, food, and utensils.
  12. Maintain buffet tables throughout the day, ensuring all food items and utensils are available on time, and inform management of additional needs.
  13. Assist guests, serve as needed, and respond to questions using suggestive selling techniques.
  14. Clean buffet tables, returning utensils, food, and other items to the kitchen.
  15. Polish mirrored buspans and coffee urns daily and store properly. Perform sidework duties as needed.
Qualifications

Education/Formal Training: High school diploma or equivalent.

Experience: One to two years in a related position with this or other organizations.

Knowledge/Skills: Basic knowledge of customer service principles, food service functions, and restaurant and kitchen operations. Ability to tactfully handle customer service issues, including stressful situations.

Physical Demands

The physical requirements include lifting trays, dish racks, and glass racks weighing 20-40 lbs, pushing carts weighing 50-100 lbs, and carrying trays with food and beverages. Must be able to bend, kneel, maneuver in narrow areas, stand continuously, and climb stairs. No driving is required. Must have moderate literacy to read records and requests. Ability to multitask, follow instructions, and communicate effectively is essential. The environment is predominantly indoor, with prolonged standing, walking, and lifting, including in freezer temperatures of -10°F.
