Job summary

Lateral Link in New York is seeking a mid-level bankruptcy and restructuring associate (3–6 years) to join a nationally ranked practice. The position features Cravath-scale compensation ($260K–$390K depending on class year) and immediate exposure to complex Chapter 11 matters.

You will represent debtors, creditors' committees, and individual creditors, manage day-to-day client relationships, and work on DIP financing, plans, 363 sales, and out‑of‑court restructurings.

Qualifications

• 3–6 years of Chapter 11 and restructuring experience.
• Experience representing both debtors and creditors.
• Strong drafting and courtroom exposure.
• New York bar admission required.

Responsibilities

• Handle Chapter 11 and restructuring matters across multiple jurisdictions.
• Work on DIP financing, plan negotiations, 363 sales, and out-of-court restructurings.
• Manage day-to-day client relationships and workflow with limited partner oversight.
• Draft pleadings, motions, and routine court filings for hearings.

Restructuring is the one practice where a 4th-year can be the most important lawyer in the room at a first-day hearing — the partners are negotiating with the lenders, and the associate who knows the DIP order cold is the one running the docket.

An AmLaw 50 firm with a nationally ranked restructuring practice is hiring a mid-level bankruptcy & restructuring associate (3–6 years) in New York. Cravath scale — $260K–$390K depending on class year.

You'd represent debtors, creditors' committees, individual creditors, and distressed buyers across in-court and out-of-court matters, managing your own client relationships and day-to-day workflow at your level rather than waiting on a partner to hand down the next task.

The work includes:

• Chapter 11 cases in SDNY, Delaware, SDTX, and NJ — first-day motions, DIP financing, plan negotiation, and confirmation
• Creditors' committee and individual creditor representations, including claims litigation and adversary proceedings
• Section 363 sales, distressed M&A, and stalking horse and credit bid strategy
• Out-of-court restructurings, liability management exercises, and exchange offers

What you bring:

• 3–6 years of Chapter 11 and restructuring experience at a comparable firm, or a bankruptcy clerkship plus firm experience
• Reps on both the debtor and creditor side, with real drafting and courtroom exposure
• Ability to run multiple matters at different stages and own the client relationship
• Strong academics; New York bar admission
