Job summary

Latham & Watkins in New Jersey seeks an experienced Bankruptcy Associate to join its restructuring practice. The ideal candidate will have three or more years of relevant legal experience and must be admitted to the New Jersey Bar.

You will provide legal support in bankruptcy and related matters, conduct substantial research, draft pleadings, briefs and correspondences, and collaborate with a team of attorneys to support litigation and case strategy.

Qualifications

• Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school.
• 3+ years of legal experience.
• Active New Jersey Bar admission is required.
• Strong academic credentials.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
• Strong analytical, research and problem-solving abilities.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to manage multiple priorities.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team.
• Strong professional judgment and client-service orientation.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal support and representation in bankruptcy and restructuring matters.
• Conduct legal research and analysis relating to bankruptcy and related litigation matters.
• Assist with preparation of pleadings, motions, briefs, correspondence and other legal documents.
• Assist attorneys with case strategy, discovery and litigation-related activities.
• Review and analyze legal documents, financial information and case-related materials.
• Communicate professionally with clients, opposing counsel, courts and other parties as appropriate.
• Manage assigned matters and meet deadlines in a fast-paced legal environment.
• Collaborate with attorneys and other members of the firm's legal team.
• Support litigation activities where applicable.
