Job summary

Northwestern State University in Natchitoches, LA seeks an Associate Director of Bands and Assistant Professor (12-month, tenure-track). The appointment ranks with experience and qualifications, with an anticipated start date of July 1, 2027; review begins immediately.

The successful candidate will direct the Spirit of Northwestern Marching Band, oversee the Purple Haze Basketball Pep Band, conduct the Fall Winds and Wind Ensemble, and teach undergraduate conducting and leadership courses.

Qualifications

• Master's degree required; doctorate preferred.
• Evidence of successful teaching experience with marching bands and concert bands at high school and/or college level.

Responsibilities

• Direct all aspects of the Spirit of Northwestern Marching Band.
• Oversee faculty and student leadership of the Purple Haze Basketball Pep Band.
• Conduct the Fall Winds concert ensemble and the Wind Ensemble.
• Teach undergraduate conducting and a student leadership and development course.
