We are currently recruiting individuals to create a roster of skilled temporary employees who will work in the Short-Term Temporary Ballot Van Driver or Co-Pilot position during the King County 2026 Primary and General Elections. Training is provided to perform assigned work.

The work site for this position is the King County Elections Building located at 919 SW Grady Way in Renton, WA
Start dates for these assignments are schedule for October 9 and November 1, 2026 for the General Election; assignments may last for a few days, up to one (1) month.
The work schedule on Election Day will be adjusted to start earlier and end by 11:00pm. The number of hours average 20 hours per week but may be more or less as work needs change. The work schedule will vary according to the workload, generally starting at 7:00am and ending around 2:00pm, including additional evenings and weekends.
This position is non-exempt according to the Fair Labor Standards Act and is eligible for overtime pay.
Travel to work locations throughout King County with limited or no public transportation services is required. A valid Washington State Driver's License is required to operate King County Vehicles; Must be 21 years old.
Positions will be filled as either an Administrative Specialist I ($26.74/hour) or a Truck Driver I ($32.16/hour) depending upon the needs of the Elections Department and the candidate's skills testing and interview.
A final offer of temporary employment will be contingent upon the review of an official Washington State Driving Abstract establishing a good driving record.
Candidates who meet the qualifications will be invited for group testing and interviews which is tentatively scheduled for the week of September 21, 2026. Testing will consist of a small physical capacity test of no more than 25 pounds and a basic driving test.
This position is represented by Teamsters Local 117, Joint Units Agreement.
The duties in this position are performed in an office setting and may be required to lift and/or move at least 25 pounds independently and up to 50 pounds in a team setting. Must have the ability to bend, kneel, stand, reach, climb, stoop, and squat.
