Job summary

UIC Arctic Response Services, LLC seeks an Engineering Technician III to support the Flight Sciences Branch at APG, MD. You will work on high‑fidelity ballistic experiments, both indoors and outdoors, ensuring safe, accurate data collection and test setup.

The role requires hands-on mechanical, electrical, and measurement work, use of oscilloscopes and shop tools, and close collaboration with engineers to develop new test setups and SOPs. Security clearance and travel may be required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Ability to set up and prepare weapons, instrumentation for ballistic tests.
• Conduct experiments with engineers and technicians under supervision.
• Perform data reduction and interpret results using Excel or similar.
• Develop and follow SOPs, test plans, and safety procedures.

Responsibilities

• Prepare test specimens, adjust equipment, and record data.
• Operate laboratory tools and measurement devices with care.
• Design and fabricate test fixtures using CAD and fabrication tools.
• Document methodologies and results in technical reports.
• Present findings to engineers and range personnel; maintain range.
• Assist with maintenance and improvements to test facilities.
