Job summary

The role involves fieldwork across port environments, risk audits, and potential penalties. Travel across WA ports and occasional evening or weekend work should be expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor-level or higher degree in a relevant maritime field is required.
• Four years of professional-level experience in vessel design or vessel inspection preferred.
• Qualifying experience may be substituted for education on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Conduct onboard ballast water inspections on commercial vessels arriving in WA to ensure compliance.
• Identify ballast water risks and perform risk audits on vessel arrivals.
• Coordinate with US Coast Guard and state agencies to support vessel management.
• Analyze inspection data and contribute to regulatory updates and procedures.
• Travel between state ports for inspections and enforcement activities.
