Job summary

Smurfit Westrock in Houston, TX, is seeking a Baler Operator to join our production team. The role focuses on safe, efficient baling operations and adherence to health and safety standards.

Responsibilities include making neat bales, operating hogger, feeding, inventory control of baling materials, and performing basic maintenance requests. Benefits start Day 1, with medical, 401(k) and paid leave options available.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED is required.
• Prior work experience in the corrugated industry is preferred.
• May be required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License.
• Understand equipment design and capabilities for efficient operation.
• Knowledge of product layouts and production specifications.
• Awareness of product quality standards.

• Assist in two man feeds as necessary.
• Maintain inventories of baling wire, wax and no wax tags, and scrap bales.
• Operate a fork jack safely when needed.
• Turn in maintenance work orders for needed repairs.
• Follow all safety and company policies.

$16-$19/HR

M-F 5a-130p currently 5a-330p

The Opportunity:

The Baler Operator works within a team to help operate the Baler in a safe, efficient and reliable manner. The position holder will follow all pertinent procedures & processes as well as Group Health & Safety standards and rules

How you will impact Smurfit Westrock:

• Make good, neat bales.
• Operate hogger and hog up all unusable paper and corrugated scrap.
• Assist in two man feeds as necessary.
• Maintain inventories of baling wire, wax and no wax tags, and scrap bales.
• Operate a fork jack in a safe manner when necessary.
• Turn in maintenance work orders to supervision for needed repairs. Be proactive in the maintenance of equipment.
• Comply with all company policies and procedures, including safety and maintaining good housekeeping.
• Additional duties may be assigned by management.

What you need to succeed:

High school diploma or GED.

Candidates are PREFERRED who offer the following:

Prior work experience in the corrugated industry.

CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS

May be required to maintain a current Lift Truck Operator License.

The individual must have a working knowledge of the following:
