Job summary

Butter Pecan Bakeshop Hayward is seeking additional bakery team members for the Hayward location. This part-time role focuses on welcoming customers, sharing menu guidance, and delivering a warm, friendly experience while supporting daily kitchen and bakery tasks.

You will operate the POS system, pack orders, help with prep and baking, and keep the shop clean and organized. The position requires reliability, good communication, and the ability to work both on a team and independently.

Qualifications

• Reliability and excellent attendance are required.
• Previous quick service food handling experience in hospitality or food and beverage required.
• One year of experience in a customer service environment.
• Must follow strict cleaning and food handling/safety guidelines.
• Strong communication skills with customers and crew members.
• Ability to work with urgency and purpose.
• Ability to multitask and stay organized.
• POS experience is a plus.
• Must be able to speak, read, and write in English.

Who are we looking for?

If you are good with people, responsible, reliable, comfortable in the kitchen and have a strong work ethic, we'll teach you the rest.

What you will do:

Welcome customers with a smile and friendly attitude. Review the menu, make recommendations, and provide a superior customer experience. Utilize POS (point of sale) system to process transactions accurately and efficiently. Pack orders correctly and handle them with care. Perform customer service tasks as directed by Manager(s), Shift Lead(s) and/or Owners. Ensure all areas are clean, neat, and organized at all times. Prep, bake, and clean-up as needed.

Tasks and job expectations include but are not limited to:

• Complete guest orders with attention to detail and accuracy

• Ensure all food is prepared, handled and stored according to all required food safety code standards
• Assist in kitchen to support all baking activities
• Valid CA Food Handler's Certificate required upon hire

Requirements:

• RELIABILITY AND EXCELLENT ATTENDANCE ARE REQUIRED.
• Previous quick service food handling experience in either the hospitality or food and beverage industry required.
• One year of experience in a customer service environment.
• Must maintain and follow strict cleaning and food handling/safety guidelines.
• Has integrity, a positive attitude, and takes initiative.
• Comfortable working on a team and independently.
• Strong communication skills with customers and fellow crew members.
• Trustworthy. Will be required to sign a non-disclosure agreement (NDA) to protect recipes, etc.
• Ability to work well under pressure.
• Must work with urgency and purpose.
• Excellent organizational skills and the ability to work efficiently.
• Ability to multitask while paying special attention to detail and is meticulous.
• Previous experience using POS (point-of-sale) equipment is a plus
• Ability to adapt to a flexible schedule according to business needs
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills

Physical Requirements:

• Frequent walking, kneeling, bending, and reaching overhead
• Operate commercial ovens, refrigerators, and freezers
• Able to stand for extended periods of time
• Must be able to lift, move and carry up to 50 pounds

Language Skills:

• Must be able to speak, read, and write in English

Work Schedule:

• Opening shifts start at 8am on the weekdays, and as early as 7am on weekends once in awhile
• Closing shifts end as late as 7:30pm weekdays and 5:30pm weekends
• 12-24 hours per week
• Must have flexibility; schedule may change
