Job summary

Hy-Vee, Inc. is seeking a Bakery Wrapper to join our team in the Bakery department. You will be the final inspection point to ensure products look their best, wrapping, weighing, labeling, and stocking items with careful attention to presentation.

You will greet customers warmly, take orders, assist in cake decorating when needed, and help maintain cleanliness and organization. This is a fast-paced bakery role with a strong emphasis on customer service and pride in product appearance.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; Hy-Vee Food Safety program required.
• Six months or less of similar or related work experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide prompt, friendly customer service by greeting customers with a smile and learning their names.
• Wrap, weigh, and label product accurately and apply merchandising labels.
• Stock cases and rotate product with an emphasis on presentation.
• Serve as the final inspector of product before it is displayed, ensuring quality and appearance standards are met.
• Ensure signage is correct and that all advertised items are available, informing the Bakery Manager of any out-of-stock products.
• Take customer orders at the bakery counter and answer the telephone promptly.
• Assist the designer by decorating and writing on cakes in the designer’s absence.
• Assist the baker with pulling product from the freezer and dropping cookies, donuts, and similar items.
• Practice proper sanitation procedures and keep the work area clean and organized at all times.
• Work with co-workers as a team to ensure customer satisfaction and a pleasant work environment.
• Assist in other areas of the store as needed and take on special projects as assigned.
• Maintain strict adherence to personal hygiene, dress standards, and all Hy-Vee policies and store guidelines.
