Job summary

Hy-Vee in the United States is seeking a Bakery Clerk to help run a busy bakery department and create a welcoming experience for customers. You will prep, replenish, and assist at the bakery counter while maintaining cleanliness and adhering to safety standards.

No prior experience is required; training is provided, and you will work as part of a supportive team to ensure smooth shifts and happy customers. This role is typically hourly and in-store.

Qualifications

• Ability to follow written and verbal instructions.

• Basic math for purchases and change.
• Stand for long periods; lift light to moderate items.

Responsibilities

• Deliver outstanding customer service by greeting customers warmly and making them feel welcome in the bakery.
• Assist customers with finding products, reaching items, carrying heavy purchases, and taking orders at the bakery counter.
• Review daily orders and monitor product freshness, appearance, and supply levels throughout your shift.
• Prepare, finish, and replenish baked goods as needed, pulling product from the cooler or freezer to prepare for baking.
• Follow and maintain proper sanitation procedures, keeping your work area clean and organized at all times.
• Check in product, put product away, and review invoices as needed.
• Operate the department register to process payments where applicable.
• Remove trash in a timely manner and maintain a tidy department.
• Work alongside teammates to ensure a smooth, positive experience for every customer.
• Maintain compliance with dress code, hygiene standards, and all company policies.
• Assist in other store areas and take on special projects as needed.
