Job summary

The Fresh Market is seeking a Bakery Department Lead to support the Bakery Department Manager in delivering an extraordinary guest experience. You will lead with care, teach and coach the team, and step in as acting manager when needed.

This role reports to the Bakery Department Manager and emphasizes hospitality, teamwork, and operational excellence in a fast-paced grocery environment. The position requires flexibility, including weekends and holidays.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of progressive management experience in retail or related field.
• Strong leadership and guest service focus.
• Excellent communication and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
• Basic proficiency with POS, scheduling tools, and MS Office.
• Must be 21 years or older.

Responsibilities

• Help monitor labor schedules to meet productivity and budget goals.
• Assist in maintaining inventory levels and ordering processes.
• Act as a resource for team members in the manager’s absence.
• Model impeccable hospitality and engage guests to create positive experiences.
• Assist in merchandising strategies to maximize sales and profitability.
• Analyze department financial and performance metrics.
• Collaborate with department leaders to drive store success.
• Leverage technology to perform these tasks.
