Job Description:

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

The associate is responsible for the following functions, in addition to other duties as assigned:

1. Keeps bakery department well stocked and appealing to meet customer demand. Smiles and greets customers, makes suggestions, answers questions about various products. Helps resolve customer concerns promptly and courteously.
2. Takes customer orders over the phone or in person at the store with a pleasant and positive attitude. Determines customer preferences for size, flavor, and appearance.
3. Sets up special-order tables during peak hours and shopping days. Sets bakery cases and builds displays as needed. May also write on cakes.
4. Ensures merchandise is fresh, saleable, properly priced, and correctly labeled. Handles spoiled, damaged, or near-expiration products according to company standards. Removes non-saleable items to maintain quality.
5. May assist in producing breads, pastries, and other baked goods, adhering to production logs and approved recipes.
6. Responsible for sanitation in the department, following cleaning schedules and health and OSHA standards. Properly disposes of trash.
7. May assist with receiving, unloading, checking-in, breaking down, and storing deliveries using a power or hand jack (training provided).
8. May assist with baling cardboard or related duties, if trained. Training provided.
9. Helps minimize shrink and control damages. Reports shortages or overages to the manager.
10. Ensures smooth department and store operations by cooperating with coworkers and supervisors. Committed to continuous job performance improvement.
11. Utilizes all company-provided Personal Protective Equipment (PPE), including cut-resistant gloves, safety cutters, and company-sponsored footwear.
12. May be called upon to assist in other departments as needed.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

This position currently has no supervisory responsibilities.

To perform this job successfully, the associate must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily, with or without accommodations. The requirements include:
