Job summary

South Restaurant + Coffeehouse in Anchorage, AK is seeking a Bakery Manager/Pastry Chef to lead production and wholesale baking for Snow City Cafe and Muse. You will coach bakers, ensure consistency, creativity, and cost control while aligning with the executive chef and general manager.

We require 2 years of bakery production management, strong English communication, and ability to work opening/closing shifts; benefits include health insurance, 401(k), paid time off, and dining discounts.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must be able to communicate, write and understand English.
• 2 years experience managing a production bakery preferred.
• Must have a current Municipality of Anchorage Food Worker Card.
• Working knowledge of Microsoft Office, Excel, Google Drive, and internet navigation.

Responsibilities

• Regularly performs manager log and email review.
• Drives training and manages bakers to maximize quality, consistency, and efficiency.
• Assists with hiring process including interviews and onboarding.
• Monitors bakery food cost and labor.
• Creates special baked goods and desserts for the restaurant and events.
• Develops new recipes and troubleshoots recipe challenges.
• Trains bakers to follow standardized recipes accurately.
• Maintains clean and sanitary bakery workspace and encourages readiness to restock.
• Documents staff and operations issues and follows up on past shifts.
