Job summary

Bimbo Bakeries USA in Meridian, MS is seeking an Assistant Maintenance Leader to guide the Maintenance Department in a large bakery facility. You will help oversee a team of mechanics, manage mid-size capital projects, and ensure a robust preventive maintenance program.

You will monitor KPIs, enforce safety, quality, and regulatory standards, and train staff on Lock-Out/Tag-Out and related safety practices while supporting leadership to drive a culture of continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Minimum 3-5 years supervisory experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably food industry.
• Strong communication, leadership, and team-building skills, with PLC knowledge being a plus.
• Experience in electrical circuitry, bread and roll production equipment repair, refrigeration, and fuel-burning equipment is essential.
• Must be computer literate and able to build, develop, and lead teams.
• Ability to read mechanical and electrical drawings, instructions, gauges, meters, etc.

Responsibilities

• Execute preventive and predictive maintenance programs to ensure reliable equipment performance.
• Plan, organize, direct, and control work performed by Mechanics using the PM program.
• Provide coverage in the absence of the Maintenance Department Leader and offer technical support for controls, electrical, and mechanical systems.
• Manage and improve components and software for a primarily automated manufacturing line.
• Monitor maintenance KPIs and PM system reports to drive improvements.
• Inspect completed work for conformance with specs and regulatory requirements (OSHA, EPA, FDA).
• Requisition tools, equipment, and supplies for maintenance activities.
• Ensure maintenance staff are trained on Lock-Out/Tag-Out, Confined Space, Hazard Material Handling, PPE.
