Job summary

Franz Family Bakery in Oregon seeks a Maintenance Engineer to join our production facility. You will oversee preventive maintenance, diagnose problems, and repair equipment to minimize downtime across bakery operations.

We require 4+ years in large-scale bakery or industrial maintenance, a high school diploma or GED, and a forklift license is a plus. Union membership may be required within 30 days of hire.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Forklift license or ability to obtain one preferred.
• LME license or experience with electrical maintenance preferred.

Responsibilities

• Preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosis and repair of production and shop equipment.
• Maintain minimal equipment downtime and avoid rework.
• Direct maintenance engineers in daily workload.
• Assist in training maintenance department and production personnel.
• Maintain and repair facility (framing, plumbing, electrical).
• Ensure all work areas are clean, safe and GMP compliant.
• Maintain accurate and timely records of work performed.
• Prepare parts requests and assist in parts ordering and inventory management.
• Respond to maintenance and line stoppage calls with urgency.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

Responsible for preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosis and repair of all production and shop equipment.

Responsible for maintaining minimal equipment downtime and rework.

Direct Maintenance Engineers in daily workload

Assist in training maintenance department and production personnel.

Maintain and repair facility which may include framing, plumbing, and electrical.

• Ensure all work areas are clean, safe, and follows company GMP’s.
• Work in a safe and efficient manner and in compliance with federal and state requirements.

Maintain accurate and timely records of work performed.

Prepare specific and accurate parts request forms, assist in parts ordering and inventory management.

• Responds to maintenance and line stoppage calls with a sense of urgency and ownership.

Provides technical assistance and information to Chief Engineer, as needed.

Recognize improvement opportunities and make recommendations to Chief Engineer.

• Other duties as assigned.
• Must join union within 30 days of hire.

Preferred Education/Experience

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Forklift license or ability to obtain one.
• LME License or experience with electrical maintenance is preferred.

4+ years experience in similar maintenance of production equipment and facilities at a large commercial bakery, artisan bakery, or other similar industrial, manufacturing or production-line equipment.
