Job summary

Franz Family Bakery is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and repair of bakery equipment across the production lines. You will ensure safety, GMP compliance, and reliable uptime for 24/7 operations, documenting work and coordinating with the Chief Engineer.

Ideal candidates have a high school diploma or GED, forklift license, and PLC experience; LME license is preferred. Prior bakery or industrial equipment maintenance background is a plus.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Forklift license or ability to obtain one.
• LME license preferred.
• PLC experience preferred, including connecting, programming & troubleshooting.
• Experience with production line equipment in large commercial or artisan bakeries is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of bakery equipment, including production lines.
• Maintain equipment productivity to minimize downtime and malfunctions.
• Ensure work areas are clean and GMP-compliant; follow safety and state/federal requirements.
• Maintain accurate records of work performed and parts requested.
• Respond rapidly to line stoppages and provide emergency repairs when needed.
• Provide technical assistance to the Chief Engineer as required.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities:

• Responsible for preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, diagnosis, and repair of all pieces of equipment within the bakery including production equipment; mechanical and electrical components.
• Responsible for maintaining the equipment’s productivity to minimize downtime or malfunctions.
• Ensures all work areas are clean, safe, and follows company GMP’s.
• Works in a safe and efficient manner and in compliance with federal and state requirements at all times.
• Maintains accurate and timely records of work performed on work orders, maintenance calls, and preventative maintenance reports.
• Prepares specific and accurate parts request forms.
• Responds to line stoppage calls with a sense of urgency and ownership.
• Provides emergency repairs quickly and efficiently.
• Performs duties in all areas within maintenance department.
• Provides technical assistance and information to the Chief Engineer as needed.
• Displays initiative in recognizing work to be accomplished and makes recommendations to Chief Engineer.
• Must be able to work any day, including holidays, or any shift.
• Must have reliable attendance to meet employer’s attendance standards for 24/7 production facility.

Preferred Education/Experience

• High school diploma or GED required.
• Forklift license or ability to obtain one.
• LME license preferred.
• PLC experience preferred, including but not limited to connecting, programming & troubleshooting.
• Previous experience in similar production line equipment and facilities at a large commercial or artisan bakery preferred or in other similar equipment maintenance of industrial, manufacturing or production-line equipment may substitute.

• Ability to work in a high temperature environment supporting fast paced machinery.
• Ability to quickly learn new job tasks and flexibility to work in different projects as needed.
