Job summary

The Winn-Dixie Company is seeking a bakery associate to assist daily bakery operations, ensuring fresh, quality products and excellent customer service. You will promote a welcoming environment, support inventory control, and follow food-safety guidelines while handling a variety of bakery tasks and equipment in a fast-paced retail setting.

The role emphasizes customer interaction, teamwork, and adherence to safety and regulatory requirements, with varied shifts and occasional overtime as needed.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age.
• Authorization to work in the United States.
• Successful completion of pre-employment drug testing and background check.
• Strong customer service skills.
• Exceptional interpersonal, motivational, and communication skills.
• Proficient in operating bakery equipment (slicer, oven, scale, knives, box cutter, pricing gun) according to company guidelines.

Responsibilities

• Create an environment that makes customers feel welcome and valued.
• Ensure daily product availability, freshness, quality and value.
• Offer samples, answer questions and assist in finding products.
• Fulfill customer requests and special orders.
• Promote trust and teamwork among associates; communicate information clearly.
• Adhere to local, state, and federal laws and company guidelines.
• Monitor inventory and report discrepancies; inspect products for quality and freshness.
• Prepare, package, label, and display products; use planning tools to produce fresh items; apply discarding/markdown rules to reduce shrink.
• Maintain proper food-safety temperatures and log temperature data.
• Maintain safety, sanitation, and productivity standards; ensure compliance with USDA, COOL, and DOA; manage recalls/withdrawals as needed.
• Reinforce safety programs; report unsafe conditions; adhere to wage and hour policies; provide safety training; maintain PPE and equipment.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
