Job summary

The Fresh Market in Connecticut is seeking a Bakery Department Lead to support the Bakery Department Manager and help deliver an extraordinary guest experience. You will lead a team with care, coach growth, and ensure operations run smoothly while stepping in as acting manager when needed.

You'll work to monitor schedules, manage inventory, and implement merchandising plans that boost sales and profitability, while keeping a strong focus on hospitality and teamwork.

Qualifications

• Minimum 1+ year of progressive management experience in supermarkets, retail, or related fields.
• Proven ability to deliver an exceptional guest experience while achieving goals.
• Excellent communication, problem-solving, and conflict resolution skills.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays as needed.
• Basic proficiency with POS systems and scheduling tools.

Responsibilities

• Monitor labor schedules to meet productivity and budget goals.
• Maintain inventory levels, minimize shrink, and support ordering.
• Serve as a leadership resource in the manager’s absence.
• Model impeccable hospitality and engage guests to create positive experiences.
• Assist merchandising strategies and promotional plans to maximize sales.
• Analyze department financial and performance metrics.
• Collaborate with other department leaders to drive store success.
• Leverage technology to perform these tasks efficiently.
