Job summary

Kroger Family of Companies is seeking a Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli) to prepare items per customer requests, assist customers, and help maintain a safe, clean department environment. You will inform customers about specials and ensure freshness and correct portion sizes while adhering to food safety and quality standards.

Responsibilities include prepping foods, labeling and stocking merchandise, maintaining inventory accuracy, and supporting the department manager to achieve sales goals.

Qualifications

• Customer service skills are required.
• Strong communication helps assist customers and colleagues.
• Basic math skills are needed for portioning and transactions.
• Ability to obtain a current food handler permit once employed is required.

Responsibilities

• Grocery Clerk (Bakery/Deli) will prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
• Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
• Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
• Provide customers with fresh products that they have ordered and the correct portion size.
• Recommend deli or bakery items to meet customer needs and preferences.
• Use equipment in bakery (refrigerators, freezers, slicers, ovens) according to guidelines.
• Prepare foods according to temperature logs and cooking instructions.
• Measure, prepare and mix ingredients following recipes and using various utensils.
• Label, stock and inventory department merchandise.
• Check product quality and review sell-by dates.
