Responsibilities

Essential Job Functions :

1. Grocery Clerk (Bakery / Deli) will prepare items per customer requests using proper bakery equipment.
2. Offer product samples to help customers discover new items or inquire about products.
3. Inform customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
4. Provide customers with fresh products in the correct portion size to prevent shrinkage.
5. Recommend bakery or deli items to customers based on their needs.
6. Use bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to company guidelines.
7. Prepare foods following food temperature logs and cooking instructions.
8. Measure, prepare, and mix ingredients according to recipes using appropriate utensils and equipment.
9. Properly prepare, package, label, and inventory ingredients and merchandise.
10. Check product quality, review "sell by" dates, and take appropriate actions.
11. Label, stock, and inventory department merchandise.
12. Report discrepancies in product ordering/shipping to the department manager.
13. Understand store layout to locate products for customers.
14. Stay updated on current, upcoming, seasonal, and promotional ads.
15. Maintain knowledge of products sold in the department to assist customers effectively.
16. Monitor inventory and stocking conditions, noting discrepancies.
17. Ensure proper temperatures in cases and coolers, maintaining temperature logs.
18. Promote trust and respect among associates.
19. Create a welcoming environment for customers, answering questions and making suggestions.
20. Adhere to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
21. Follow safety procedures, identify unsafe conditions, and notify management.
22. Inspect equipment regularly and notify management of repairs needed.
23. Report customer or employee accidents.
24. Work cooperatively in a fast-paced, sometimes stressful environment.
25. Manage conflicts in a reasonable and cooperative manner.
26. Act with honesty and integrity regarding customer and business information.
27. Follow directions and seek assistance when needed to resolve issues.
28. Support and assist minors, individuals with special needs, and older adults.
29. Perform essential functions with or without reasonable accommodations.

Qualifications

Minimum Position Qualifications :

• Knowledge of basic math.
• Ability to obtain a current food handler's permit upon employment.

Desired Previous Job Experience :

• Experience in bakery or deli is helpful.
