Responsibilities include:

• Offering product samples to help customers discover new items or products they inquire about.
• Informing customers of bakery and/or deli specials.
• Providing customers with fresh products they ordered and the correct portion size to prevent shrink.
• Recommending deli or bakery items to customers to ensure they get the products they want and need.
• Using all bakery equipment such as refrigerators, freezers, slicers, and ovens according to company guidelines.
• Preparing foods according to food temperature logs and cooking instructions.
• Measuring, preparing, and mixing ingredients according to recipes, using various kitchen utensils and equipment.
• Properly preparing, packaging, labeling, and inventorying ingredients and merchandise.
• Checking product quality to ensure freshness, reviewing 'sell by' dates, and taking appropriate action.
• Properly using kitchen equipment including stoves, scales, fryers, steamers, and robots.
• Labeling, stocking, and inventorying department merchandise.
• Reporting product ordering/shipping discrepancies to the department manager.
• Understanding the store's layout and locating products upon request.
• Staying current with ads and promotions.
• Maintaining knowledge of products sold within the department and responding to customer questions with suggestions.
• Monitoring inventory and stocking conditions, noting discrepancies.
• Ensuring proper temperatures in cases and coolers and maintaining temperature logs.
• Promoting trust and respect among associates.
• Creating a welcoming environment for customers by answering questions and making them feel appreciated.
• Adhering to all food safety regulations and guidelines.
• Reinforcing safety programs and reporting unsafe conditions.
• Practicing preventive maintenance and notifying management of equipment issues.
• Reporting customer or employee accidents.
• Working cooperatively in high-paced, sometimes stressful environments.
• Managing conflict reasonably and cooperatively.
